O’Reilly Automotive reports 2007 net income grew almost 9%

O’Reilly Automotive reported 2007 net income grew 8.9 percent as sales surpassed $2.5 billion and new stores for the year neared 2007. Net income for the quarter ended Dec. 31 was $40.6 million, a 0.6 percent increase from $40.4 million in the same period in 2006. Sales were $604 million, up 8.2 percent from $558 million a year ago, and earnings per share held steady at 35 cents on 116.3 million shares, compared to 35 cents on 115.4 million shares a year ago.

NEUROGEN CORP LAYOFFS

On the 6th Feb 2008 NEUROGEN CORP announced that it had reduced its workforce by approximately 70 employees, as part of a restructuring plan to focus the Company's resources on advancing clinical assets. Microsoft Departures

Microsoft announced the departure of several senior executives, among them a Silicon Valley veteran recruited to help fix its unprofitable internet business and one in charge of marketing Windows Vista. The departures come just two weeks after Microsoft offered to buy Yahoo! A Microsoft spokesman said that the announcement is unrelated to the Yahoo! negotiations.

Mattson Technology Inc (MTSN) Downgraded

Analysts at Caris & Company downgraded Mattson Technology Inc (MTSN) from Above-Average to Average while reducing their estimates for the company. The target price has been reduced from $8.50 down to $6.00. In a research note published earlier the analysts say that Mattson Technology’s etching business has not received the orders expected in Q4/07 and so is unlikely to significantly boost the company’s performance in 2008.

Netgear Promotes Gorjanc to CFO

Netgear (NTGR) said it promoted Chief Accounting Officer Christine Gorjanc to the position of Chief Financial Officer effective immediately. The Santa Clara, CA computer equipment company said Gorjanc replaces Jonathan Mather who left in Nov 2006. "Christine has provided invaluable leadership to the finance team throughout her tenure," said Chief Executive Patrick Lo. "She has helped build a world-class organization with a reputation for sound financial operations, reporting transparency, and strong internal controls."

Pixelworks Reports Q4/07 Financial Results

Pixelworks, Inc. (PXLW - an innovative provider of powerful video and pixel processing technology) announced Q4/07 revenue was $27.0 million, at the high end of management guidance, reflecting strength in the Company's core projector & advanced television businesses as well as sales of legacy products. Revenue for the fourth quarter represented a 4% sequential decrease from $28.1 million in the third quarter of 2007 and a decrease of 10% from $29.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2006.

National Security Group Inc (NSEC) reported 3rd Qtr net income of $1.5m or $0.61 per share which is lower than Q3/07 which was $1.8m or $0.74 per share. Quarterly total revenues declined to $17.39m from $17.52m in the same quarter in 2007.

Cepheid Extended Its New High

Cepheid (CPHD) extended its new high on Friday adding to gains from the previous session. CPHD rallied at market opening before falling slightly around mid-day trading. Shares finished up $1.33 at $30.83. The stock broke through resistance on Thursday and ended up $2.70 by the close of business.
